Sayang shop is the brainchild of two best friends who yearn to create a platform where their carefully chosen products can be shared and enjoyed with others who also appreciate the fine value of food and nourishments.
The meaning of “Sayang”
Indonesia, the homeland where these two friends – Maya and Astrid, originally come from, has a term of endearment of “Sayang” which means love and care. There is one significant element in Indonesian culture that symbolizes the presentation of love, which is food. Good comfort food plays a big role in Indonesian culture. It is how the community shows their love and affection for each other on a daily basis. Even during big events of celebration and religious holiday, it is essential for Indonesian to have traditional comfort food. Therefore, the term “Sayang” embodies all the values and origin of this shop that Astrid and Maya have created. From how their friendship to the same vision and passion have driven them to create this project to spread their love language in comfort food and nourishments.
Our Products
Rice and coffee are two typical main food and drink in Indonesian household. Not only do they provide sustenance, but they are also a comfort food.
- Fukumi Konjac Rice ( Beras Porang )
Beras (rice) is a stapple food in Indonesia. Nowadays in the rest of the world, with a growing number of people that suffer from gluten allergies, rice has become a great alternative to replace glutenous food. Going a step forward, Indonesian company - Fukumi, has created a healthy way to eat rice by producing a konjac based rice that tastes exactly similar as normal rice but with lower amount of carbohydrates and thus low sugar level. This also makes it suitable for diabetic meals and calory friendly food for a healthy diet plan.

The Awi Coffee is an Indonesian family blend coffee roaster that has been specializing in roasting specialty coffee since 1945. Indonesian coffees are characterized by being dark, bold and earthy. With a rich coffee culture, Indonesia produces several types of coffee in different region of islands with their own distinctive coffee characteristic. The Awi Coffee has produced a specialty blended coffees that represent the distinct flavors of these regions.
